Pay – $2326 – $2434/wk

Job Description –
Position Details:
EP Lab Tech
This position WILL accept local candidates.
Dysrhythmia Exam NOT Required
Required: Minimum 2 years recent EP experience. Conscious Sedation, Circulating, Monitoring and Scrubbing EP procedures. Experience with running stimulator for ablations (will have rep to support with this).
Must be able to do mapping during procedures as well.

Will not be required to float to Cath Lab
36hrs/wk. 4-9hr OR 4-10hr shifts, no call
RCES or RTR, BLS, ACLS Required
ARRT Preferred

Unit Specific Details:
Procedures performed will include TEE, CV, Tilt table, Loop recorders ,PPM, ICD, ablations and EP studies
2 EP labs

I. PRIMARY FUNCTION/GENERAL PURPOSE OF POSITION:
The primary purpose of this
position is to function as a scrub tech, circulator or monitor person for electrophysiology
procedures under the direction of a Cardiologist.
II. EMPLOYMENT
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. High
school graduate or equivalent
2. Completion
of a two year school of radiology
3. Registered
by ARRT (American Registry of Radio logic Technologists) and or RCIS
certification
4. Maintain
CEUs as required by the ARRT
5. Previous
Cath Lab or Special procedure area experience
6. Basic
computer knowledge
7. Maintain
current CPR, ACLS required

III. ESSENTIAL
JOB FUNCTIONS:
a. Explains planned procedures and
goals to patient and family members in order to allay apprehension and elicit
cooperation necessary for attainment of such goals.
b. Maintains
patient in accordance with hospital standard

c. Performs
the following duties during electrophysiology procedures, under the guidance of
a physician.
i.
Acts as a scrub assistant: according to established
policy, readies the patient for prescribed procedures. Cares for the patient
post procedure.
ii. Acts as circulator: assist physician and scrub person
during procedure as needed. Offers emotional support to patient

iii. Acts as a recorder: reviews and records demographic
patient data. Operates homodynamic
monitoring equipment and interprets data obtained.

Selects, assembles, and checks for proper functioning,
operation and cleanliness of equipment needed for procedures in the Cath Lab
area.
e. Initiates, conducts, and assists in the
resuscitative efforts in the event of cardiac arrest or life threatening
arrhythmias.
f. Remains abreast of current developments in the
field of cardiovascular technology by attending inservice presentations reading
journals, attending conferences and seminars in affiliation with professional
allied health organizations. g.
Readies patients for Cardiac Cath and/or other procedures
in accordance with lab policy.
h.
Recovers patient post procedure, maintaining safe
return to hemostasis includes but is not limited to monitoring vital signs,
compressor clamp placement, hand holing site, post cath instructions, EKG
monitoring.
i. Transports patient to and from Cath Lab as needed
via stretcher.
j. Assume duties as charge person and all duties per
department policy.
k.
Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to
provide care appropriate to the age of the patients in the Cardiac Cath Lab.

IV. OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:
1. Performs
basic secretarial duties

Schedules procedures

3. Performs
related duties and assignments as assigned by the charge person or the
director.
4. Participates
and delivers inservices as needed.
5. Restocks rooms in the Cath Lab
6. Accepts temporary reassignment in other areas or
alternative shifts as needed

V. WORKING CONDITIONS:
1. The individual performing this job may
reasonably anticipate coming into contact with human blood,
body fluids, and/or other potentially infectious materials. Individual sin this position are required to
exercise universal precautions, use personal protective equipment and devices,
and learn the policies concerning infection control.
2. Activities are non-sedentary. Assists in lifting and moving patients. May be exposed to abusive combative people. Must learn and apply policies regarding
electrical, chemical, and radiation and back safety

EP tech with RCES or RTR certification required ARRT preferred; minimum 2 years recent EP experience.
