Job Description –
TRAVEL SA OR
• The Certified Surgical Assistant, is the person who scrubs in at the field and works as the surgeons other hand.
• They must have a CERTIFICATE/DEGREE in SURGICAL ASSISTING from an accredited school.
• The certification for this is usually from the NBSTA, National Board of Surgical Technologists and Surgical Assistants, which comes when they sit for and pass their exam.
• In Virginia, they also have to have a VIRGINA LICENSE , issued from the VDH.
• IF they have applied for one and are waiting on final approval, we are still interested in interviewing them.
• RNFA is an equivalent position, must also have passed a First Assistant program and I believe their RN license is equivalent to the Virginia licensing requirement.
• Some SAs/RNFAs, may also have a Surgical Scrub Technologist degree, as well because a lot of them were techs prior to having their training as an assistant. However, they MUST have an ASSISTANT degree and a Virginia license to qualify for this position.
2 YEARS EXPERIENCE IN A HOPSITAL SETTING REQUIREDMUST HAVE VA STATE LICENSE
