General Information
Unit Specifics:
• Number of Beds : 16
• Patient Ratios : 1:2, 1:1 for certain device patients
• Unit staffing description- (unit secretaries and tech availability) : Free floating charge nurse to assist staff. Unit secretary and Administrative Care Tech M-F 0730-1530. Student Nurse Externs on variable shifts that assist nurses by performing tech duties.
• Type of equipment : Phillips bedside telemetry monitors, Hill-Rom beds, Alaris IV pumps
• Documentation system: Meditech
• Scheduling requirements: 2 weekends/month, 1 summer holiday (Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day), 2 Winter Holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Years Eve, New Years Day)
• Floating policy: C/L employees float as needed, typically to other ICUs but can include other floors.
• Patient Experience requirements: None specific

• Certifications: BLS

Requested Skill Set:
Must have : Strong critical care experience, including CVICU experience
Advanced skills needed: Skills with PA catheter and hemodynamic monitoring required, preferred experience with IABP, Impella, and CRRT.
Procedures performed on unit: Provide care to immediate post-operative cardiac surgery patients, including ECMO, Centrimags, and HM3 LVADS. Perform central line insertion, swan insertion, intubations, etc. on unit.
Certifications Required: ACLS, BLS
Dress Code : (Required uniform)
• Scrubs – black, red, or galaxy blue, scrub jackets/vests only

• 16 bed CVICU with 5 full time surgeons performing high volume and advanced cardiac surgeries. Specialize in post-operative cardiac surgery care and devices. Intensivist assigned to unit 24/7. Strong driven team of nurses with excellent teamwork.
