We are a Clinical Decision/Direct Admit Unit with a primary goal of receiving admitted patients from the ED, completing the Admission Assessment, Medication Reconciliation, and initiating acute care orders. This constantly refined process reduces overall length of stay and enhances the patient/family experience.
We care for patients with a wide variety of diagnoses; therefore, a well-rounded background will be instrumental.
Advanced skills needed: Charge Nurse experience or willingness to consider is appreciated.
Procedures performed on unit: minimal bedside procedures due to the environment

Any additional information that would entice a worker to select your unit for their assignment: Consider items such as new equipment or technology, tenure and experience of staff, schedule options, etc.
• Most of our travel nurses request an extension as a few have been with us for several years. As stated above, we do float to other units as needed; however, we also offer a couple of additional opportunities in our CMU Telemetry Unit and as ED Transporters. The CMU Telemetry nurses are centrally located and oversee our telemetry patients to ensure safety. These nurses escalate issues at the clinical level to ensure patients are placed on telemetry timely and remain on as indicated by orders.
• The ED Transport Nurses assist with moving higher acuity patients from the ED to specialized inpatient units. We staff 2 nurses 24/7 for this role. This initiative allows the ED nurse to remain in the ED to provide ongoing care which enhances throughput and ED decompression.
