Tell us about the unit(s):
• Number of Beds - 17 Pre/Post bays all together
• Number of Staff - 3 FT staff, 1 PT staff
• Type of staff:
o They are all day shift staff. We use PRN staff to help our core staffing right now
• Patient Ratios - PreOp: 1:2, PACU: Phase 1 is 1:1, Phase 2 is 1:2
• Type of equipment - Stretchers, EKG, Blood Glucose, Monitors, BP, Pyxis machines
• EMR - Meditech
Typical hiring profile
Skill Set Most recruited for: (Travel RNs, local CNAs and sitters)
Must have : candidates without these skills will not be considered for the role.
• Minimum 1 year current PACU experience with Orthopedic patient population
• PACU Call experience
• BLS/ACLS
Preferred or nice to have : candidates with these skills will be considered first.
• Knowledge of PT/OT instructions for joint patients
• Comfortable with bedside teaching
List typical procedures performed on unit(s):
• Total Joint procedures, Sports Med, Foot/Ankle, some podiatry, hand, and nerve cases
• General Surgery (hernias, lap appy, lap chole cases primarily), Breast cases with some plastic reconstruction (mastectomy with tissue expanders or direct to implant cases)

At our facility, we primarily do 80% ortho cases , 20% general. We have kind surgeons and a wonderful and dedicated anesthesia provider team. Our full-time nurses work in our PreOp area and our PACU area and are dedicated to the success of our department and our patients. Our team morale is great! Our nurses have years of experience. We have 8 PACU bays, 6 PreOp bays for our 4 ORs. Our facility is always mentioned as being very beautiful and clean since it is only 5 years old! Our PACU RNs work with our floor nurses for admitting, and the floor team is wonderful as well!
