Job Description
Position Title:
Location: On-site, Morehead, KY
Shift: Days, 4x10s with On-Call
Bonus: This position is eligible for up to $20,000 Sign On Bonus.
Position Summary:
The Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory Technologist (CVI/Rad Tech) assists physicians during invasive cardiovascular procedures such as angioplasty, cardiac catheterization, and electrophysiology.
Duties/Responsibilities:
• Greets, informs, and prepares patients for vascular/cardiac cath or interventional procedures.
• Receives and identifies patients using two identifiers.
• Performs morning scrub per policy.
• Demonstrates minimum competency in the use of sterile techniques.
• Sets up sterile table with minimum competency.
• Labels all medications on and off the sterile field with the proper medication and percentage.
• Circulates with the procedure room and procures equipment for procedure.
• Prepares and administers contrast agents according to departmental policies.
• Performs quality control procedures as indicated to assure proper equipment operation.
• Assists in maintaining room supplies and cleanliness.
• Assists and performs procedures with cardiologists, radiologists and vascular surgeons.
• Assists with final verification using two identifiers for correct patient and correct procedure.
• Proficiently operates and recognizes the problems with the imaging equipment.
• Interprets hemodynamics and minimum knowledge and use of the Whitt Monitor.
• Demonstrates minimum knowledge and use of Balloon Pumps.
• Demonstrates minimum knowledge and use of imaging information systems.
• Demonstrates knowledge and proficiency in radiation safety, interventional supplies and equipment operation.
• Recognizes and/or anticipates patient’s needs and/or concerns and takes appropriate action to comfort and/or correct.
Education:
Completion of approved course in Radiologic Technology, Associate Degree in Applied Sciences (AAS) or Bachelor’s Degree in Radiological Technology (BSRT).
Experience:
One year radiologic experience preferred. Completion of an approved course and/or on-the-job training in cardiovascular intervention preferred.
Licensure/Certification:
Current registry/or registry pending with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists, R.T. (ARRT, R) and current radiation operator’s certification and general or temporary license issued by the Commonwealth of Kentucky is required. Additional registry/registry eligible with the American Registry of Radiological Technologists in Cardiovascular Intervention, ARRT, (CV) preferred.
