Job Title – Imaging & Radiology – Interventional Radiology Technologist

Location – Wichita, KS

Pay – $2526 – $2526/wk

Schedule Details – Day, 4X10

Job Description –
TRAVEL- IR TECH (743) -Wesley MC -Day shift, 8 or 10 hours M-F plus rotating call and weekend call

Tell us about the unit(s):

• Number of Beds -5 Bay holding room; 3 room Ir suite; 3 room CT suite

• Number of Staff – 5 nurses 5 RTs

• Type of staff:

• Day Shift -Outpatient procedures during hours of 700-530, call requirement through night.

• Night Shift – Call required

• Patient Ratios – 1:1 during procedures; 3-4 patient ration in holding room dependent upon acuity

• Type of equipment -Maclab documentation and paper charting

• EMR -Meditech

Typical hiring profile

Skill Set Most recruited for: (Travel RNs, local CNAs and sitters)

Must have : candidates without these skills will not be considered for the role.

• 1 year IR procedure nursing experience including sedation experience

• ACLS, PALS

Preferred or nice to have : candidates with these skills will be considered first.

List typical procedures performed on unit(s):

• Kyphoplasty, y-90, peripheral interventions, stroke and trauma cases, diagnostic cerebral cases, drain placements, biopsies

• Thrombolysis cases, neuro coiling cases.

Imaging Nurse Job Description
1. Job Summary
The goal of the imaging nurse is to provide safe quality care to inpatient and outpatients across the lifespan within the imaging environment. The imaging nurse is qualified and prepared to critically think during unexpected emergencies that occur during any imaging diagnostic or interventional procedure.
The Imaging Nurse ensures patient privacy, confidentiality, dignity, and safety. Areas where the nurse may function include the following modalities:
• Diagnostic Radiology
• Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)
• Computed Tomography (CT)
• Nuclear Medicine
• Ultrasound
• Interventional Radiology (IR)/Vascular Interventional Radiology
• Procedural Prep and Recovery area (recovery room)
2. Role Specific Competencies
• Demonstrate knowledge and utilize the nursing process for imaging patients across the lifespan.
• Demonstrate knowledge of basic information pertaining to all radiologic procedures and exams.
• Demonstrate ability to safely administer sedation/analgesia and monitor patients response under the direction of a physician including:
o Continuous cardiac monitoring and arrhythmia recognition and treatment
o Continuous vital sign monitoring and alerting physician to patient decompensation
o Continuous ETCO2 monitoring and recognition of compromised airway
o Ability to document sedation record per facility guidelines
o Ability to recognize and manage patient adverse event during sedation
o Knowledge of common sedation medications including reversal agents
o Ability to recognize sedation continuum and rescue patient as necessary
• Demonstrates knowledge in contrast administration, identification of contrast reaction, and management of contrast reactions & extravasations.
• Demonstrate knowledge and skills in appropriate care and identification of venous access devices and provides IV access and/or assist technologist in obtaining IV access.
• Provides care to the patient undergoing non-interventional and interventional radiology procedures as per nursing standards and facility hospital policies & procedures.
• Provides pre and post procedure education with documentation.
• Works collaboratively with medical, technical, and support staff.
• Performs daily job duties as required by facility/department.
