Job Description –

NICU RRT
Must be willing to float to Adult
Level lll NICU
Must be competent to
work with the High Frequency Ventilator(JET) and the Oscillator

General Information

Tell us about the unit(s):

• Number of Beds – 12 beds

• Number of Staff – 5-8

• Type of staff: Director, permanent staff, 2-3 RRTs, per diem help
• Day Shift – Director, lead RRT, 2-3 RRT

• Night Shift – On-call team, varies on volume

• Patient Ratios (Estimated) – 1:1, 2:1

• Type of equipment – Oxygen cylinders and concentrators, nebulizer, suction machine, CPAP & BIPAP machines

• EMR – Meditech

Typical hiring profile

Skill Set Most recruited for: (Travel RNs, local CNAs and sitters)

Must have: candidates without these skills will not be considered for the role.

• BLS, ACLS, & PALS are an ABSOLUTE MUST (and NRP for NICU)

• 2 years of current acute care Hospital RRT experience

Preferred or nice to have: candidates with these skills will be considered first.

• Stroke Education and experience & NRP

• Director prefer to only consider candidates with previous Meditech experience

List typical procedures performed on unit(s):

• Respiratory Therapist provides treatment, care and evaluation for patients with respiratory insufficiencies, asthma, pneumonia, emphysema

Best personality Fit:

• Team player, close knit team, critical thinker, patient care focus, fast paced

• Active disciplinary approach, collaborative physician relationships

Dress Code: Include requirements, but most of all not acceptable attire.

• RRT – Scrub Color – Royal Blue Scrubs for Respiratory Therapy

Awards/Recognition: Feel free to include items such as links to videos that feature the department, outstanding department/team awards, reigning annual chili cook-off winners, etc.

• 228 bed Joint Commission and designated top performing hospital since 1980

• Certified primary stroke center, Blue Distinction Stroke Center and specializing in surgical programs including Open Heart, 24 hour adult and pediatric ER, orthopedics, robotics, womens services and rehabilitation
